The Friends of Saltwells Nature Reserve are immensely proud to be one of 281 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to be awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2024. This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE. The King’s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to support their communities.
Les Drinkwater, Chair of Friends of Saltwells Nature Reserve said: “All the volunteers are enormously proud to have their hard work and dedication to Saltwells recognised in this way. The volunteers have such a wide range of skills, combined with energy and enthusiasm inspired by this special place. We want to share everything Saltwells has to offer the local community and conserve it for generations to come. I am so grateful for all their hard work and commitment and delighted to share this recognition with all of them.”
